Therapeutic massage is the manipulation of the muscles and tissues of the body to prevent and alleviate pain, discomfort, and stress. There are many styles and types of massage therapy. Some of the more recognized forms are: Swedish: A full-body massage designed to stimulate circulation and provide an overall relaxing and stress relieving experience. This is the most commonly taught and well-known type of massage. Deep Tissue: Releases chronic patterns of tension in the body through the application of slow and deep pressure strokes. Sports: Focuses on protocols designed specifically for individual sports. Techniques provide warm-up and cool down for pre and post event and can reduce injuries, alleviate inflammation and decrease recovery time for amateur and professional athletes. Reflexology: Based on a 5,000 year old healing system from China, these techniques address reflex points on the feet and hands which have energetic correlation to various parts of the body. |
Trigger Point: These techniques target the painful knots that can form in muscle tissue. A therapist will apply moderate pressure on these points and hold for 30 seconds. After releasing, the pain associated with these knots/points is greatly reduced.
Cranial Sacral: Gentle, non-invasive holds on the head, spinal column and sacrum (tailbone) that stretch and decompress these areas. | La Stone : Massage therapy blends an ancient Native American tradition of using heated and cooled rocks on the body with modern massage therapy techniques to give the recipient a truly unique and relaxing therapeutic experience. Thai : Therapist uses hands, knees, legs and feet to move you in yoga-like stretches for relaxation and energy. also:
